ARTISTS
Jude Harrington
Hi, I'm Jude, a Cardiff-based artist and I work in a variety of mediums, including oils, watercolours, acrylics, and pastels. I have a deep passion for painting and love creating pieces that express my emotions and thoughts. An awful lot of blood, sweat and tears (by and large metaphorical), are shed in the process! My education and training in a traditional atelier setting has laid a solid foundation in all genres, from still life to portraiture, via landscapes, seascapes and abstract.

I strive to develop my artistic style and techniques, through studio based work and plein air painting. Living in Wales, I am constantly inspired by the beautiful landscapes and rich culture that surrounds me, as does the rest of the UK, Cornwall is a favourite destination and features in my portfolio. I also accept commissions and teach from my home studio. I also offer painting sessions for children (accompanied by an adult) where they can create an abstract masterpiece whilst learning to express themselves through shape, form and colour.

Jude Harrington is available for private bookings

Tuition in my studio or outdoors, in watercolour, oil and sketching
Availibility -7 days a week, from 10 until 8pm

Title or Location: Reunion - Fear and Relief
This piece was created to reflect the emotions surrounding some of the tragic events being created by the ICE organisation in the USA. Imagine having your child stripped away from you, the fear and pain that would run through you. And then imagine the relief and joy when reunited. This painting presents that tender reunion: a mother kneels to hold her child close, faces pressed together in a moment of quiet relief. Rich blues and warm ochres define the figures while layered brushwork adds textur

Title or Location: Fruit Shopping
?Fruit Shopping? is my 5th oil painting after transitioning from Acrylics. My focus was on capturing the contrast between the soft, natural look of the fruit and the sharp, shiny light on the plastic bag. I loved how the plastic both protects and slightly distorts what?s underneath, creating interesting highlights and textures. Oils on foamboard.

A story my Grandfather told me of his first day in the pit aged 12 years old . Walking home that first day with his Fathers and Uncles , when his Father put his hand on my Grandfathers shoulder and told him he did well that first time underground , but his Mother would be waiting and watching for him to come home., and as they turned the corner to their street there stood his Mother waiting for him and to see him safe as all Mothers do .

Although my preferred medium has always been watercolour, I?ve recently begun exploring the world of oils ? and I?m absolutely captivated. When I came across this stunning reference photo by Lisa Curry in Free Reference Photos for Artists on Facebook, I was immediately drawn to the gentle reflections and the sense of calm that seemed to ripple through the scene. This is only my second oil painting, yet the process has been such a joy from start to finish. I?m excited to continue learning, experi

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
